CRSF to PWM Converter, CRSF-PWM-6

Sort By:

1. Product Summary

1.1. Product Description

The Matek CRSF → PWM Converter (model CRSF-PWM-6) converts the CRSF signal (Crossfire / ExpressLRS protocol) into up to six independent PWM channels. It is designed for RC aircraft, FPV drones, and model planes that use CRSF receivers but require standard PWM servos, ESCs, or other PWM-controlled devices.

1.2. Product Features

  • Compatible exclusively with receivers outputting CRSF protocol.
  • Up to 6 independent PWM output channels.
  • PWM frequency configurable: 50 Hz (default), 100 Hz, 160 Hz, 330 Hz, 400 Hz.
  • Two UART ports:
    • UART1 — for receiver connection.
    • UART2 — for GPS, firmware update, or configuration.
  • Telemetry support (with external sensors and GPS): RxBt, Curr, Capa, Bat %, GPS, GSpd, Hdg, Alt, Sats.
  • Built-in battery voltage monitor up to 36 V (1 k : 10 k divider integrated).
  • Supports external current sensor (0–3.3 V signal).
  • No built-in 5 V BEC regulator — servos and ESCs require external 5–9 V power supply.
  • Ultra-compact and lightweight: 25 mm × 16 mm, ≈ 1.3 g.

1.3. Applications

  • RC Aircraft: Fixed-wing models using CRSF receivers with PWM servos.
  • FPV Drones: Compact FPV builds needing PWM output or telemetry expansion.
  • Telemetry Systems: For monitoring battery voltage, current, and GPS data in CRSF setups.
  • Experimental builds: Where modular CRSF-to-PWM flexibility is needed.

2. Specifications

Table 2-1. CRSF-PWM-6 Technical Specifications

Parameter Specification
Number of PWM Channels 6
PWM Frequency 50 / 100 / 160 / 330 / 400 Hz (default 50 Hz)
Input Voltage (Vpad 5 V) 4 – 9 V
Battery Voltage Monitoring (Vbat) 0 – 36 V (1 k : 10 k divider built-in)
Current Signal (Curr input) 0 – 3.3 V
Dimensions 25 mm × 16 mm
Weight ≈ 1.3 g

3. Package Contents

  • 1 × Matek CRSF-PWM-6 Converter
  • 1 × Dupont 2.54 mm pin header set

Note: Receiver, GPS, servos, and power cables are not included and must be purchased separately.

4. Connection and Operation Guide

  • Connect a CRSF-compatible receiver (e.g. Crossfire, ExpressLRS) to UART1 (Tx1/Rx1).
  • Use UART2 (Tx2/Rx2) for GPS or external sensors to enable telemetry data.
  • Before powering on, set the throttle to minimum and all other sticks to neutral to record Failsafe values correctly.
  • Ensure servo and ESC power comes from an external BEC (5 – 9 V). The board does not supply regulated power.
  • Configuration allows adjusting PWM frequency, current/voltage calibration, and firmware update via CLI mode.

5. Advantages and Limitations

Advantages

  • High compatibility with modern CRSF receivers (Crossfire / ExpressLRS).
  • Adjustable PWM frequency for different servo types and response speeds.
  • External voltage and current monitoring with telemetry support.
  • Compact and lightweight design for small aerial builds.

Limitations

  • No built-in 5 V BEC — requires external power supply for servos.
  • Only 6 PWM channels — for more channels use models like CRSF-PWM-V10.
  • Works only with CRSF protocol — not compatible with SBUS, PPM, DSM, etc.
